Mark E. Scher, CIMA®
Mark Scher is the Director and co-founder of MASECO Asia Limited. He is from Detroit, Michigan. Mark graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Accounting, Economics and Finance from Oakland University. He then obtained his Master’s degree in Finance from Walsh College. Mark has his Series 7, 63, 65 and Life, Accident and Health licenses in the US. He obtained his Certified Investment Management Analyst® designation in the US in 2009 and completed his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in the UK in 2012. He is currently the Head of the firm’s Investment Committee.
In 2010, Mark joined MASECO Private Wealth in London as a Senior Wealth Manager and was a member of their Investment Committee. He currently travels between Hong Kong, the UK and the US to see clients in all three jurisdictions. Prior to joining MASECO Private Wealth, he worked in the US as an advisor with AXA Advisors and MetLife. From 2007 – 2009, he was appointed as the Investment Specialist for MetLife for the state of Michigan. Before his career in financial services, Mark was President/CEO of his family’s wine business, Viviano Wine Importers which was sold in 2000.
Mark has considerable expertise in helping US expatriates as well as other private clients to manage their global wealth planning needs. With over 20 years’ experience in various aspects of finance and management, he is passionate about sharing his knowledge with his clients to help them achieve their financial goals. Being an American expat himself, he has a deep understanding of the complexities that arise when advising US citizens with cross-border issues. Mark is licensed and regulated in the United States, United Kingdom and Hong Kong. He speaks regularly internationally on various investing and finance-related topics, including engagements in the US, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai.
In his spare time…
Mark served in the US Marine Corps and is still very committed to the military community. He is the Commandant of the Marine Corps League in London which involves fundraising and working with the US Marines in the UK.
Growing up, Mark worked at Viviano Wine Importers for many years and developed a passion for great wine and dining. He collects wine as well as first edition books, including his favourite in the collection, Hemingway’s For Whom the Bell Tolls.
He loves sports and fitness and enjoys playing golf, tennis and studying Kung Fu. He is an avid Michigan Wolverines and Detroit Lions fan.
